The Church and the State

In Christian Ed on Sunday morning, we've been moving through Richard Niebuhr's "Christ and Culture", discussing the Niebuhr's 5 models of cultural engagement. Last Sunday we dealt with the final model, the "Conversionist" approach--Christ the Transformer of Culture. In the course of our conversation, we discussed relationship between the Church and the Government. What is the proper role of the Church as a body and Christians as individuals within the "secular" state?

This lecture by Dr. RC Sproul is a very helpful explanation of the Church-State relationship in the context of the debate about abortion. If you are in the class please take the time to listen because it will set the stage for some of our upcoming discussions.
